Urge Congress To Oppose Changes in Charitable Tax Deductions that Threaten Charitable Giving
Please urge Congress to protect charitable giving incentives in the Federal tax code, especially the current charitable deduction, as it considers the FY 2014 Budget proposal (or any similar proposals) to limit the itemized deduction for charitable contributions.
Unlike other tax incentives, the charitable contribution deduction is unique in that it promotes behavior that provides no direct benefit to the donor. Tax policy should encourage charitable giving, especially during times of economic recovery and when charitable resources are under great stress.
Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ provides vital financial support to 27 social service, health care, and educational agencies in Essex, Morris, Union, Sussex, and parts of Somerset County. We rely on active support of our annual donors as well as others who make planned gifts to fund these activities. Any decrease in the tax incentive for charitable giving will have a direct impact on our bottom line and a direct impact on our ability to provide the necessary services to those most in need in our community.
ACT NOW!
Send a letter to your Congressman and Senators urging them to not impose any limits or caps on the charitable contribution deduction tax policy.
