JCPA Condemns Shooting in Garland Texas
In response to the violence that has marred Garland Texas this past weekend, JCPA Chair Susan W. Turnbull and JCPA President Rabbi Steve Gutow released the following statement:
“Many of our most sacred rights as Americans are enshrined in the first amendment of our constitution. Freedom of speech and assembly is essential to open and pluralistic democracies --even for the most despicable of statements and groups. The way to confront hateful and incendiary speech is by simply speaking the truth. Violence designed to intimidate, punish, or silence is never acceptable.”
JCPA, the public affairs arm of the organized Jewish community, serves as the national coordinating and advisory body for the 17 national and 125 local agencies comprising the field of Jewish community relations.
