Bus Bombing in Jerusalem and Rockets from Gaza Condemned
JCPA Outraged and Saddened by Escalating Terrorist Attacks on Israeli Civilians
Today’s heartbreaking terrorist attack targeting a Jerusalem bus stop comes on the heels of a disturbing escalation in assaults on Israel’s civilian population, which should be strongly condemned by the international community, said the Jewish Council for Public Affairs.
“I am overcome with a mix of outrage and sadness by today’s bombing at a Jerusalem bus stop, which has resulted, apparently, in at least one death and many injuries,” said JCPA President Rabbi Steve Gutow. “This is just the latest in a string of brutal attacks on Israeli civilians, and we call on the international community, and all parties who support peace in the Middle East, to join in condemning them.”
“The relative calm in the south that had given Israelis a sense of normalcy has been shattered in recent days by the mortars and sophisticated rockets fired from Hamas-controlled Gaza on Be’er Sheva, Ashkelon and other population centers,” said JCPA Chair Dr. Conrad Giles. “We support Israel in taking the steps necessary to protect all its citizens and to bring those responsible for these attacks to justice. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and we wish all the wounded a full and speedy recovery.”
