Since moving to Austin, Lisa has been active in the Jewish community as a volunteer and professional.  From 2005-2007 she served in volunteer leadership positions with the Austin Jewish Book Fair, a 10-day community event that draws thousands of attendees each year.  In 2007 she joined the ADL/JCRC Collaboration, focusing on matters related to church-state separation, advocacy for Israel, and community Holocaust commemoration.  She represented the ADL and JCRC at the Texas Legislature during the 81st session, testifying on bills and joining the Governor at signing ceremonies.  She has taught at USC, and served as a guest lecturer several times at the University of Texas at Austin.

A native of Houston, Texas, Lisa earned her undergraduate degree at Trinity University in San Antonio. Her graduate work at the University of Southern California focused on Russian cultural history of the 19th and early 20th centuries and museum and archival studies.  She is married to Paul Benjamin, comic book writer and graphic novelist extraordinaire.
