Support Iran180's Campaign 'Countering Ahmadinejad 2012: Most #UNwelcome'

12:33 PM Sep 12, 2012

'It’s September again. We all know what this means: another United Nations General Assembly, another visit from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and one last (hopefully!) opportunity for the Iranian President to spew vile hatred from the dais. In an effort to counter the inevitable message of intolerance that Ahmadinejad will propagate, Iran180 is organizing a unique online campaign with a very simple aim: letting the Iranian President know that he is “#UNwelcome” in New York, or anywhere else in the United States for that matter. This message will be disseminated in a variety of ways, as an online petition, as a Twitter #hashtag (#UNwelcome), and as an evolving effort to educate everyday Americans about the policies of the Iranian government that have made that country an international pariah. Here’s how you can help.

1)   Disseminate our launch letter (Available Here) to your email distribution lists and encourage them to sign our petition, download our distributable materials, and share this campaign with their friends and family. The petition will include the opportunity for a personal message to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which will be compiled and mailed to him.

2)   Encourage your memberships to support this cause on Twitter using the hashtag #UNwelcome. We will disseminate instructions and sample tweets in the days leading up to Ahmadinejad’s September 26 UNGA speech that will assist our followers, and will hopefully lead to #UNwelcome trending on Twitter.

3)   Link to Iran180 on your webpages, and encourage your followers to adopt one of our Most #UNwelcome badges on Facebook.

Remember, the campaign that we are running here is about expressing our values. Let the Iranian president know that his abuse of the Iranian people, and the Iranian regime’s obsessive pursuit of a nuclear capability, is unacceptable. Until both of these facts change, any Iranian leader is #UNwelcome here.

Thank you for your continued support on this effort, and we look forward to a successful campaign.
