Getting Civil: Bridging the Divide Between Protestant and Jew
As our world becomes more interconnected, a deepening polariza-tion in political and popular culture threatens to pull us ever further apart. A common thread of the major world religions is the ethic of reciprocity – to treat others as we would want to be treated. As we are commanded to repair our broken world, we must find ways to work in concert. This requires that we take a common stand against the demagoguery, defamation and demonization that threatens our civic discourse.
The 2010 Plenum is about “B’Yachad” – working together and building relationships with our friends in both the Jewish and broader, interfaith communities. Forming broad-based coalitions aimed at fighting poverty, protecting human rights, and working towards a peaceful Middle East is a hallmark of Jewish community relations. At the Plenum 2010, you will have an opportunity to educate yourself and build upon these skills while networking with colleagues and peers.
Your thoughts on Plenum 2010 will help us as we continue to look for ways to improve future Plena.
