U.S. Special Envoy on Anti-Semitism Sworn into Office – On April 11, Elan Carr was sworn in as the U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, a position JCPA had long urged the Administration to fill. David Bernstein, JCPA President and CEO, attended the swearing-in ceremony at the Department of State.

JCPA's Civil Rights Mission Resources – From April 28-30, JCPA will take 54 Civil Rightss Mission participants on a tour of historic civil rights sites across Georgia and Alabam. Participants will grapple with the struggle for civil rights in America, then and now, and be inspired to enhance  engagement in civil rights and community relations. We encourage everyone to take advantage of JCPA's Civil Rights Mission background resources, including a webinar on Black-Jewish relations and a list of recommended reading materials. 

JCPA Joins Interfaith Coalition in Urging Congress to Stop Weaponizing Anti-Semitism for Political Purposes – Responding to concerns that elected leaders are using anti-Semitism as a wedge issue to score political points, JCPA joined 19 other religious and faith-based groups on a letter raising these concerns with Members of Congress and urging them to recommit to a constructive bipartisan approach to combating anti-Semitism. JCPA and Over 300 Jewish Organizations Urge Congress to Pass the Never Again (Holocaust) Education Act – JCPA, Jewish Federations of North America, and more than 300 other national, state, and local Jewish organizations from every state in the nation sent a letter to the House Education and Labor Committee requesting a hearing and expedited markup of the Never Again Education Act (H.R. 943), which would expand access to Holocaust and anti-hate education.

JCPA Joins Jewish Letter in Support of the NO BAN Act – JCPA and 17 other Jewish organizations sent a letter urging Congress to pass the NO BAN Act (S. 1123/H.R. 2214), which would end the discriminatory Muslim travel bans, amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of religion, and limit Presidential authority to enact similar bans in the futureClick here to read the full letter.

Jewish Rohingya Justice Network Held Successful "Make Noise" Call-In Day – To mark the reintroduction of the Senate's Burma Human Rights and Freedom Act (S. 1186), JCPA and other members of Jewish Rohingya Justice Network organized a national Jewish call-in day. Jews from around the country flooded office phone lines to urge Senators to cosponsor and pass the bill, which would provide critical humanitarian aid to the Rohingya refugees and sanction the military leaders responsible for the genocide. Click here to read JCPA's 2019 Resolution on the Genocide of the Rohingya People.

Indianapolis JCRC to Host Interfaith Iftar for the Rohingya People  JCRC, OBAT Helpers, Muslim Alliance of Indiana, Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, and Beth-El Zedeck invite you to break bread with them on May 25, 2019. This interfaith Iftar is being held to raise awareness and funds for Rohingya refugees who after having fled persecution, violence and are still facing genocide in Myanmar and are now settled in the world's largest refugee camp in Bangladesh.
